QUEERFLEX: Building Strong Bodies and Sustainable Communities for LGBTQIA+ folks in Canada
QUEERFLEX is Canada’s fist non-profit gym centred on creating safer space for queer, trans, and non-binary people in the fitness world. It's about addressing accessibility concerns - physical, mental, emotional, financial. It’s about honouring the intersections of identity and trauma that exist in our LGBTQIA+ communities, and acts a tool in becoming stronger and more sustainable, individually and together, so we can keep doing the work we need to survive. As a gender-fluid, non binary queer person, I have had many experiences with homo and transphobia in gym settings and yoga studios, and still continue to experience these things to this day when I go to many typical fitness spaces. This is why I started QUEERFLEX and why assistance in securing space, and funding operating and equipment costs are essential in moving this initiative forward. Help us build stronger, more sustainable LGBTQIA+ communities across Canada for our generation and generations come!
