Works for Women Alberta
Based on a report titled The Best and Worst Places to be a Woman in Canada 2016, Edmonton and Calgary are ranked near the bottom of the list. Our committee thinks we can do better and hoped to inspire our networks to help drive change in their workplace. We created awareness about our initiative on International Women's Day. We saw an overwhelming response with over 5,000 #BeBoldForChange wristbands distributed (in two weeks!). Each month we are also initiating new workplace challenges that aims to spark dialogue, build awareness, and inspire action. We’ve also committed to connect our network to resources, experts, and a supportive community designed to accelerate progress for women in the workplace. We are proud to say #WorksforWomenAB has begun a grassroots movement to change the number of women in leadership roles and make Alberta a better place for women to work. We know change will not happen overnight, but by uniting our community we can take direct action to impact change.
