As part of our celebrations leading up to Canada's 150th birthday, we are excited to honour Alberta's storytellers with a number of amazing prizes and awards!

You can even be a winner in multiple categories! If you are one of the 150 top stories you will be eligible for the cash prize award in addition to the medallion and the 2 free tickets to the Sarah McLachlan concert at Rogers Place on July 1st, 2017. 

$5,000 Grand Prize

One storyteller will be selected for our Grand Prize of $5,000. The lucky winner will be awarded during our Canada150in150 Celebration Finale at Roger's Place this Canada Day.

 

$10,000 Total in Cash Prizes

Ten winners will be selected, one from each of our ten subthemes, and will be awarded $1,000! 

The top 10 selected story recipients will need to be in attendance at Rogers Place on July 1st, as a requirement to collect the cash prize, and will need to be available to be profiled in a video for the Awards Celebration.

 

Tickets to the Celebration Finale feat. Sarah McLachlan

150 winners will each receive 2  tickets to the Canada150in150 Celebration Finale on July 1st at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

During this event we will honour our 150 Award Winners, Cash Prize Winners, and Grand Prize Winner!

After the ceremony, ticket holders will enjoy a truly Canadian performance by Sarah McLachlan and guests.

Canada150in150 Medallions

150 entrants will be awarded with a beautiful keepsake medallion during the Canada150in150 Celebration Finale at Roger's Place in Edmonton, Alberta on July 1, 2017! 

The Coyote

represents Technology, and is a symbol of shape-shifting; teaching balance between risk and safety, at the same time, knowing the necessity of moving forward. The Coyote is highly innovative, smart and insightful.

The Ram

represents Community, with the attributes of new life, nurturing, and strength. The Ram is strongly tied to the cycle of life and committed to community at the same time, representing good fortune and health.

The Eagle

represents The Arts, and is an incredibly strong symbol for creativity and magic. Quick thinking and eloquent, the Eagle is also a teacher and initiator.

Legacy E-Book

To commemorate this significant milestone birthday of our great nation, we will be compiling 150 stories in to a Legacy E-Book. 150 submissions will live on to tell the story of Canada!

Early Bird Air Travel Prize

Entrants that submitted their story before April 12, 2017 have been entered for a chance to win one round trip flight for two guests to any regularly scheduled WestJet destination in Canada*!

The lucky Early-bird prize winner will be announced during the Canada150in150 Celebration Finale Event this Canada Day!

*No purchase necessary. Open to age of majority legal residents of Alberta. Contest opens 12:00PM (MST) on March 21, 2017 and continues until 12:00 PM (MST) on April 12, 2017. The Prize consists of one voucher that is valid for of round trip economy airfare for two (2) people from any regularly scheduled and marketed WestJet destination in Canada to any regularly scheduled and marketed WestJet destination in Canada. Taxes, fees and surcharges are not included, and must be paid for by the winner at the time of booking the flights with a valid credit card, other restrictions apply.
